Embrace Vulnerability, Overcome your Fears.

As a creativity coach and self-taught artist, I've faced my fair share of fears when it comes to sharing my work. The fear of judgment, rejection, and vulnerability is a common challenge for many creatives. In this blog post, I'll share my personal journey, what helped me and tips for overcoming these fears.

Creativity is a deeply personal expression of ourselves. It's like sharing a piece of our soul with the world.

This vulnerability can be scary, but it's also what makes art so powerful.

When we share our art we're putting ourselves out there for the world to see. We're opening ourselves up to criticism, rejection, and even praise. This can be a daunting prospect, but it's also an opportunity for growth and connection.

Overcoming the fear of sharing your art is a journey, not a destination. It takes time, patience, and self-compassion.

This is what helped me along the way and what I see as a coach helps other creatives as well:

  • Focus on your own growth. Don't let the fear of judgment hold you back from expressing yourself. Your art is a reflection of your journey, and it's important to share it for your own sake.

  • Build a supportive community. Surround yourself with people who appreciate and encourage your creativity. This can provide you with the support you need.

  • Practice self-compassion. Be kind to yourself and remember that everyone feels this fear to some degree. It's okay to make mistakes and to learn from them.

  • Celebrate your accomplishments. No matter how small, celebrate your achievements. This will help you build your confidence and overcome your fears.

There have been times when I've hesitated to put my work out there, fearing rejection or criticism. But I've learned that the rewards of sharing my art far outweigh the risks, not because of the external validation or appreciation (which is obviously nice to receive), but for the growing sense of confidence and self-esteem that being brave like that gave me.

When I share my art, I'm connecting with others on a deeper level. I'm sharing a piece of myself with the world, and that's a powerful thing.

And I know I won't connect with everybody and not everybody will like it but that is ok because I am connected to my art, I like it and I want to share it.

So I encourage you to embrace the vulnerability of sharing your art.

It's a scary but rewarding experience. By following these tips and building a supportive community, you can overcome your fears and share your creativity with the world.

Remember, your art is a valuable expression of yourself, and it deserves to be seen.

When was the last time you shared your art? How did you feel? Let me know in the comments!
